Karas Shipping and Trading Ltd. has been established in 1991 by Ahmet Argic,CPA and Capt.Ahmet Serdar Argic with main scope of business based on world wide ship broking and operating.
In 1992 during CCCP and East Block’s collapse , Karas established first JV,Koarg Shpk in Albania because of partners’ Balkan roots and started Door-to-door service to Turkish Construction and Export Companies. Same year Karas also started to cooperate with DSMS,Vienna for Danube River-Blacksea-Med multimodal transportation after successful years this trade interrupted due to Yugoslavia Civil War.
In 1994 Karas was awarded first large COA in Seramic industry and have been carried millions of tons Sodium feldspar,K.feldspar,quartz,China clay and dolomite to the Seramic and glass industries. Other focused industry is steel , Karas represented major Steel Mills and Scrap traders and carried million tons scrap and steels, still serving Steel Mills and Pipe Factories.
In 1996 Karas purchased MV Durbala/2650 dwt coaster and became Ship Owner.Until June 2008 owned 3 coasters and a tanker,sold last one just before great crisis.
In 2000 Karas opened Florida Office for The Caribbean and USG Operation but failed due to 9/11 Terrorist attacked, finally in 2014 Karas established another JV in Singapore,GBS Karas Shipping Pvt.Ltd., for their Fareast operations, especially to serve Offshore Industry.
